Contrary to popular belief, arthritis is not just an old person’s disease. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a form of arthritis in children aged 16 and below. JIA causes joint swelling (inflammation) and joint stiffness.
Goals
It is difficult to understand what JIA patients go through as it is not every day that you meet a child that suffers from joint inflammation. Through the JIA Club, not only can caregivers of JIA patients identify with each other, but these junior patients can also meet and befriend other children suffering from a similar arthritis condition.
Benefits
We want to ensure that our junior patients understand that having fun and forming connections is entirely possible despite their condition. Therefore, the Club has activities that are catered towards arts, crafts, baking, and any activity that children take to. We hope that these will enable our JIA fighters to form stronger connections with their caregivers, as well as make new friends while having fun.
